OhmwerkElectrical trade

Electricians live on callouts. The page has to hold up at the moment somebody is standing in front of a warm consumer unit.

Starting point

Trade websites in this city all look the same: four icon tiles, a stock photo of a tool belt, the phone number in the footer. At precisely the moment you need the site, it is useless.

The three questions, before the first line of code

01

What does the business do?

Installation, callouts, safety inspection, wallboxes — private and commercial.

02

Where?

Dortmund and thirty kilometres around it, workshop in Dorstfeld.

03

What should the visitor do?

Call. Everything else is trimming.

Decisions

01

Paper instead of black

Problem
Three dark studies in a row read as one handwriting rather than three businesses.
Decision
Offwhite stock, heavy condensed caps, signal yellow only ever as a filled block behind a single word.
Why
A trade business is a catalogue, not a stage. And a portfolio where everything looks alike proves nothing about the person who made it.

02

The model may only move one way

Problem
Sooner or later somebody types “smoke is coming out of the socket” into that box. A model that invents an answer to that is dangerous.
Decision
The prompt knows four permitted actions — switch off, keep away, ventilate, call emergency services — and no repair instruction. Fire or injury makes the answer start with the emergency number.
Why
On safety questions a wrong answer costs more than none. The limit is in the prompt and again in how the response is read.

03

Urgency is the biggest thing on the page

Problem
An assessment you have to read will not be read in an emergency.
Decision
One word in the yellow block, six centimetres tall. Everything else below it.
Why
The caller needs a decision, not a report.

What actually runs

A server action sends the description to claude-sonnet-4-6 and gets strict JSON back: level, immediate action, next step. Parsing is defensive — a stray sentence around the JSON must not take the feature down — and without a model response a fixed, equally conservative fallback takes over.

What I would do differently

I invented the six quick-picks. They should come out of real call logs; the words customers actually use land better than anything written at a desk.
